Choosing a easy to use, easy to configure CMS has been the biggest issue when developing the new site. I’ve looked at Joomla, Drupal and WordPress, created a site in each, written the scripts to move all the content across from racekites.com and designed the layout and graphics. From all, WordPress is the easiest, fastest and nicest to work with. The other are great, however I found that the themeing and design was at time difficult. Creating site functionality was again at times tricky with Joomla and Drupal, although as with WordPress there are plugins to do most things, I found that by default plugins for Joomla and Drupal needed quite a lot of custom edits to fit with the look and layout of the site. With WordPress, this really wasn’t the case.

WordPress has a rich plugin architecture, and an advanced templating system, which is greatly enhanced with the addition of Thesis.
